The Reading Agency

"All groups have made several visits to the local library and more celebrations are planned. We're already thinking about the 2010 Challenge!"
Chris Moore, Head of Reading and Learning Services, Wiltshire Libraries

Wiltshire Libraries welcome Catrin Collier

Author Catrin Collier kept an audience of literacy groups from Chippenham, Calne and Corsham enthralled at Calne Library during Adult Learners' Week. Catrin has written two Quick Reads titles - Black-Eyed Devils launched this year and The Corpse's Tale under the name Katherine John, both published by Accent Press in Wales.

Later in the evening Catrin talked to Challenge participants and other class members at HMP Erlestoke where she had donated books for the reading group to read in advance. The visit was much appreciated, and discussions could have carried on much longer.

Wiltshire Libraries are currently supporting nine groups through the Six Book Challenge, most in partnership with Wiltshire College. We are also working with HMP Erlestoke, and with Buckley Barracks where the group is made up of the wives of serving Gurkhas.Over 50 people have enrolled and most look set to complete.
