New prizes and an award scheme for 2012
20 December 2011
Although organisations can run the Six Book Challenge at a time that suits them, many opt for January until the end of June for their main period of Challenge activity. This fits with an invitation to Challenge completers and participating organisations to enter a range of prize draws by Friday 29 June 2012 with prizes as follows:
National prize draw for Challenge completers - first prize remains a weekend in London for a Challenge completer and guest including a show and £150 spending money
NEW! Prizes of eReaders for three runners-up - the great new way to get reading
Please note that entrants for this prize draw must be from the main target audience for the Challenge, ie people aged 16+ who are improving their literacy skills or are just getting into reading for pleasure.
National prize draw for workplaces - an author visit, courtesy of Transworld Publishers, for a winning workplace that runs the Six Book Challenge and marks the Campaign for Learning's Learning at Work Day (see Andy McNab's visit to McVitie's in Manchester who won the prize in 2011)
National prize draw for colleges - an author visit for the winning college (see Bali Rai's talk to students at Doncaster College for the 2011 prize which was arranged with support from The Reading Agency's My Voice programme)
National prize draw for prisons - an author visit for the winning prison (see visit by Spiel Unlimited to get offenders writing at HMP Gloucester as their prize for 2011)
Here are the entry forms. Please get in touch if you have any queries about eligibility.

We're also introducing a new gold/silver/bronze award to recognise the achievement of organisations taking part in the Challenge and encourage everyone to increase the impact of the scheme. Any participating organisation that returns valid data to us by Friday 6 July will be eligible to receive a certificate based on their Challenge completion figures as follows:
- 150 completers gets gold
- 100 completers gets silver
- 50 completers gets bronze.
If we'd run it in 2011 we would have had 16 bronze, 4 silver and 2 gold winners - so go for it and make sure that you're an award winner for 2012!
