Six Book Challenge at Bolton College

The 2011 Six Book Challenge was launched at Bolton College in the week of World Book Day at the beginning of March, and is once again proving a hit with students. Most of the Skills for Life Literacy classes are taking part in the challenge along with some workers at Warburtons and Littlewoods. The students at Littlewoods are doing it for the first time as a result of encouragement from their Union Learn rep Ken Bakker who undertook the challenge last year as a student at Bolton College. Also taking part in the challenge are students from Alpha Hospital and parents in a Family Learning group at Tonge Moor school whose children are also taking part in their own reading challenge alongside their mums. It's been encouraging once again to see students who have not been readers in the past enjoying taking part, and also to give students the opportunity to share their opinions about the books they have read which has often led to other students wanting to read the same titles.
